Our mission is to provide middle school and high school students with the foundation necessary to read and interpret Classic Literature, in other words, help them "get lit". Today's middle school and high school students are sometimes referred to as the "digital generation", or in other cases, generation Z. They often feel classic literature is inaccessible and irrelevant to them. This generation of students is technology savvy, which contributes to making the printed word is less enticing for them. In spite of their technical knowledge, they often lack the reading skills, vocabulary, and historical perspective necessary to understand literature and realize its value. |
We at "Got Lit?" employ a flexible and effective framework, based on the pedegogy of anchored instruction and collaborative learning, within which, the learner utilizes technology to build the foundation for reading classic literature, which includes:
When the student masters the skills necessary to read and interpret literature, they are scaffolded away from reliance on technology and encouraged to read the text directly. |
